APRIL 2014
Hi!

"Work smarter, not harder." If that saying is true anywhere, it's certainly true for IT operations. But you need visibility before you can make required changes. This month, we offer some real-world examples of how IT organizations can use wire data analytics to work smarter. Check out this testimonial from one ExtraHop user who describes how they can now proactively fix issues before customers are impacted.

Stop Playing the "Whack-a-Mole" Game

We recently hired TechValidate to survey our customer base and heard some great stories about how IT organizations are using wire data analytics to work more efficiently.

One Global 500 financial services company reported, "We are now able to isolate and remediate many potential customer-impacting issues prior to severity thresholds being met, often in less than one minute of the occurrence beginning. The flexibility through triggers and alerts allows us to become more predictive in remediation, rather than just playing the reactionary whack-a-mole game."

Paying Down Technical Debt in Your IT Infrastructure

Technical debt is one of the most important concepts that IT operations professionals must learn. Target Data Breach: Alerts, Alerts Everywhere and Nary a Drop of Insight

In case you missed it, Bloomberg Businessweek published an in-depth report that describes how Target's security team was alerted to the data breach but did not take action. One wonders how many alerts the Target team received each day. It's a familiar and chilling scenario that points to the need for organizational adjustments to take full advantage of new technology.

We recommend a follow-on article from Network World that discusses the operational and policy changes that can prevent alert-fatigue.
